SOME MORE INFORMATION ABOUT OUR WORKSHOP ARTISTS

About Cervantes Art Festival

The Cervantes Art Festival is an annual celebration of music, art, and culture. The festival features performances by local and international artists, as well as workshops, exhibitions, and food vendors. Join us for a weekend of fun and creativity!

Tricia Stedman

Tricia Stedman is an artist dedicated to creating meaningful, beautiful, and joyful works that weave together people’s experiences, emotions, and imperatives. Her artistic process is deeply collaborative, evolving as she listens to the voices of the community and translates their stories into vibrant visual expressions. Whether working with schools, local groups, or broader audiences, Tricia fosters creativity and connection through her art. Her projects, such as those in Meekatharra, highlight her commitment to engaging people of all ages in the artistic journey, ensuring that every brushstroke carries a shared sense of purpose and inspiration A B.

Tracey Cleeman

With a deep-rooted passion for the arts and education, Tracey Cleeman’s journey has been one of creativity, mentorship, and community engagement. Originally studying Theatre Arts with a major in costume design, she furthered her education with an Associate Diploma in Theatre Arts (Performance), followed by numerous art courses at TAFE and the Tresillian Art Centre in Nedlands.

After moving from Dandaragan to Perth, Tracey immersed herself in the arts sector, working at the Playhouse Theatre and contributing to organizations such as Melville Cares and Sowillo Independent School. Through these roles, she introduced art to children and adults with disabilities as well as young people from challenging backgrounds, fostering a space for creative expression and personal growth.

Tracey established her own arts practice while working as an Education Assistant, and in 2008, she founded Adventures In Art. What started as a small group of children exploring various art forms grew into a thriving initiative, offering after-school art sessions for primary and secondary students, holiday programs, and recreational art workshops for adults. Today, Adventures In Art welcomes up to 25 children each afternoon in a wonderfully chaotic and vibrant art space—who needs a patio when creativity calls?

With the support of talented teenagers assisting in sessions, Tracey continues to cultivate an environment where young artists can explore, create, and build confidence. The annual exhibition, enthusiastically embraced by the community, celebrates the students’ imaginative works. Above all, Tracey finds immense joy in nurturing creativity, encouraging friendships across different schools, and inspiring the next generation to carry artistic expression into their adult lives.

Rick Krieg

With over 40 years of experience as a Professional Brush Signwriter, I honed my craft in South Australia’s renowned Barossa Valley—an area celebrated for its premium wines and vibrant tourism. My business encompassed Signwriting, Motor Trimming, Upholstery, Spray Painting, and Commercial Art.

Art has always been a passion, and though largely self-taught, I have continuously developed my skills. Early on, I was often asked to create cartoons and unique invitations for special occasions, which helped refine my artistic touch.

Further Education

• Gilles Plains TAFE: Painting, Decorating, Signwriting & Screen Printing

• Gawler TAFE: Oil Painting

• Elizabeth TAFE: Advertising & Design (Sketching & Layout)

In 2016, I relocated to Jurien Bay, Western Australia. After losing my leg following a knee replacement operation, I transitioned back to art, embracing it fully as my creative outlet.

Since 2019, I have showcased my work at the Cervantes Art Festival, contributing multiple pieces over the years. I have also visited the Open Studios event in Margaret River, engaging with fellow artists and expanding my understanding of different techniques—an experience that continues to fuel my passion.

Through this workshop, I hope to share my love for acrylic painting and inspire others to embrace their artistic potential.
